# How do I stop answering the same five questions every day?

You stop answering the same five questions by writing each answer once, in a place a machine can quote. Publish them as short articles, put a chat widget on the site that answers from those articles and nothing else, and let the questions it cannot match reach you as tickets. The five repeats disappear in the first week.

## Why this happens

Every product has a short list: how do I reset my password, where is the invoice, does this work with X, how do I cancel, what is the refund window. They are easy, which is exactly why they never get fixed. Each one takes two minutes, so nobody blocks out a day for it.

The FAQ page does not stop them. People ask in chat because chat is in front of them and the FAQ is not. A survey of service leaders found 80% say at least a fifth of their tickets are repetitive and easy, and most customers say they would rather find the answer themselves.

So the answer has to live where the question is asked. That means the chat widget, and it means the answer has to be something you wrote, not something a model guessed.

## Steps

1. **List the five from last week, not from memory.** Open your inbox or chat log and count. The real top five is usually not the one you would have guessed, and one of them is often a sign-up or billing step you can fix at the source.
2. **Write one article per question, answer first.** First sentence is the answer. Then the steps. Then the edge case. Keep each under 200 words. Publish them in the DeskCrew knowledge base; they also appear on your public help center.
3. **Put the widget on the site and let it answer from the articles only.** Install the one-line widget. When a visitor asks one of the five, the AI answers from your article. When nothing matches, it says so and opens a ticket instead of inventing something. You choose whether its answers go out at once or wait for your approval.
4. **Fix the question at the source where you can.** If "where is my invoice" is in the top five, add a link to the invoice in the receipt email. The best repeat question is the one nobody needs to ask.
5. **Repeat monthly with the new top five.** The list shifts as the product changes. A monthly ten-minute count keeps the articles current and the widget accurate.

## What to expect

**Ten free AI answers a month is a trial-sized allowance.** The free plan is enough to prove the five articles work. A site that gets daily questions moves to Pro at $29 a month, flat for the workspace, with 150 AI answers included and 49 cents for each one after that.

**The AI only knows what you wrote.** This is the point, and it is also the limit. A question outside your articles becomes a ticket, not a guess. In the first week you will write two or three more articles from those tickets, and that is the work.

**Drafts need a human until you say otherwise.** By default, replies to tickets are drafts in an approval queue. Instant answers in the widget come only from published articles. You decide when to let drafts send on their own.

## FAQ

### Will the AI make things up?

Not from the articles it is given. It answers only from your published knowledge base, and when a question is not covered it says so and hands off to you as a ticket. That rule means a wrong answer costs a handoff, not a customer. You can also keep every reply as a draft for your approval until you trust it.

### How long does setup take?

About an hour for a solo founder: fifteen minutes to write five short articles, two minutes to paste the widget script or install the plugin, and the rest reading the first tickets that come in. The free plan needs no card, and there is nothing to configure beyond the articles themselves.

### I already have an FAQ page. Why does this help?

Because people ask where they are, not where you wrote. The widget sits on every page and answers in the chat they opened. It reuses your FAQ: paste each entry as an article and it starts answering. The FAQ page keeps working for the people who do read it, and the widget catches everyone else.

### What if a question needs account details?

The widget does not answer those. It collects the message and the email and opens a ticket. You reply once, from the dashboard or from Slack or Discord, and the customer gets it in the chat or by email. Account lookups are a human job here by design, so nothing private is ever guessed at.

### Does this work for a Discord or Slack community as well as a website?

Yes. The same articles power the Discord bot and the Slack connection, both included on the free plan with one server and one workspace. A member asking in Discord gets the same answer a visitor gets on the site, and uncovered questions become tickets in the same inbox for your team to answer once.

### What does it cost after the free plan?

Pro is $29 a month, flat for the workspace, not per seat. It includes 150 AI answers a month, email-to-ticket and your own branding. Team is $79 a month for unlimited conversations and more AI answers. Every new workspace starts with seven days of everything unlocked, so you see the real behaviour first.
