Helpdesk MCP server for Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT
DeskCrew runs a helpdesk MCP server that lets Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT and any MCP client read your tickets, draft replies for a person to approve, and update your knowledge base and changelog, on every plan including Free.

What can an AI assistant do in your helpdesk?
The server gives your assistant 24 tools in four groups. Reading is free of risk. Drafting puts text in your approval queue. Sending stays locked until you choose otherwise.
Read (10 tools)
List and search tickets, open one with its full context, search and read your help articles, and see issues, changelog entries and reports. Reading never changes anything.
Draft and triage (4 tools)
Triage a ticket, draft a reply, propose a resolution, or link a ticket to an issue. Drafts wait in your approval queue until a person sends them.
Write content (7 tools)
Create tickets and issues, update issues, write and edit help articles and categories, and post changelog entries. Each change is stored and visible in your dashboard.
Send (3 tools, locked)
Send a reply, resolve a ticket, or assign it. These stay locked for every new credential until an admin unlocks them for that one credential.
How do you connect Claude Code to your helpdesk?
Install the DeskCrew plugin and add one credential. The whole setup takes about five minutes.
Sign in to DeskCrew (a free workspace takes a minute) and open Dashboard, Agents.
Mint a credential. It starts with mcp_ and is shown once, so copy it straight away.
In your terminal, add the plugin: claude plugin marketplace add webmilmind1/deskcrew-claude-plugin, then claude plugin install deskcrew.
Put the credential in your shell profile as DESKCREW_MCP_KEY, restart Claude Code, and run /deskcrew-setup to check it.
Ask Claude to list your open tickets. Then ask it to draft a reply and approve the draft in DeskCrew.
Using Cursor, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT through the API, or a local model? The dashboard’s Agents page has a ready config for each. Every one points at https://deskcrew.io/api/helpdesk/mcp with your credential in the Authorization header. The full tool reference is on the API reference.
Is it safe to let an AI assistant into your desk?
Yes, because it starts unable to reach a customer. A new credential can read and draft, and nothing more. Each draft waits for a person to approve it.
Draft-only by default
Sending, resolving and assigning are locked for every new credential. An admin unlocks them one tool and one credential at a time.
No money tools
The helpdesk server has no tool that can spend money. Bounty tools live on a separate server you would have to choose on purpose.
Your workspace only
A credential belongs to one workspace and sees only its data. Revoke it from the Agents page and it stops working at once.
Want an AI to answer website visitors live instead? That is proactive chat with your own agent, which adds its own safety checks on every reply.
How does it compare with Zendesk and Intercom?
DeskCrew’s server is live on every plan today. Intercom has an official server for some regions. Zendesk has announced one.
| DeskCrew | Intercom | Zendesk | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Status | Live on every plan, Free included | Live for US and EU hosted workspaces | Announced 19 May 2026, early access |
| Sign-in | Credential sent as a header | OAuth or a bearer token | Not yet published |
| Customer replies | Drafts wait for approval; sending unlocks per credential | Internal notes only, no customer-visible replies | Not yet published |
| Help articles | Read, create and edit | Read, create and edit | Knowledge named in the announcement |
| Best for | Small teams that want an assistant drafting inside their desk now | Intercom customers in US or EU regions | Teams already on Zendesk who can wait |
Bottom line: DeskCrew lets a small team put an assistant to work today. Intercom signs in with OAuth, which DeskCrew does not offer yet, so a one-click claude.ai connector is easier there.

Helpdesk MCP, asked and answered
What is a helpdesk MCP server?
It is a door that lets an AI assistant work inside your helpdesk. MCP is an open standard for connecting assistants to tools. With it, Claude or Cursor can read your tickets and help articles and draft answers, instead of you copying text between tabs. DeskCrew runs its server at deskcrew.io/api/helpdesk/mcp.
Can the AI send replies to my customers?
Not by default. A new credential is draft-only: the assistant can read, triage and draft, and every draft waits in your approval queue. Sending, resolving and assigning stay locked until an admin unlocks them for that credential. Many teams never unlock them and keep a person on every reply.
Which plans include the MCP server?
Every plan, including Free. Any admin can mint a credential under Dashboard, Agents. The assistant runs on your own AI subscription, so DeskCrew adds no per-call charge for it. Plan limits on conversations and seats still apply as normal.
Does it work with Claude Desktop and claude.ai?
Claude Desktop works today through a short config entry that passes your credential. A one-click connector for claude.ai needs a sign-in flow DeskCrew has not built yet, so for now Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and API clients are the supported paths.
Is there a version with payment tools?
Yes, at deskcrew.io/api/mcp. It has the same helpdesk tools plus the bounty tools, which can spend your board credit. Most teams want the helpdesk server above. Use the full one only if you run a bounty board and want an assistant to manage it.
