How do I stop answering "where is my order" on my Shopify store?
You stop answering "where is my order" by putting the answer where the customer already is: a tracking link in the shipping confirmation, a shipping policy page the chat widget can quote, and a support widget that answers delivery windows instantly and hands a real per-order lookup to a person with the email attached.

Why does this keep happening?
A "where is my order" message is rarely a complaint. It is a customer who could not find a date. The shipping confirmation went to a promotions tab, the tracking link needed a login, or the carrier page said "label created" for three days. Each gap sends the same question to your inbox.
The question also arrives at the worst time. Orders cluster around launches and holidays, so the tickets cluster too. One person answering by hand hits the same copy and paste fifty times in a week, and each reply still takes a few minutes to look up the order first.
Gorgias, a helpdesk used by many Shopify stores, measured the share: on average 18% of incoming requests are this one question. Cutting it is the single largest win most small stores have.
How do I fix it, step by step?
Put tracking in the shipping confirmation
In Shopify, add the tracking number to every fulfillment so the order status page and the shipping confirmation email both carry a live link. Customers who can click a link do not write.
Publish one shipping policy page with real dates
State processing time, carrier transit times by region, and what "label created" means. Put it on your store and in your DeskCrew knowledge base as one article. Dates beat adjectives: "ships in 2 business days" answers the question, "fast shipping" does not.
Let the chat widget answer the policy side
Install the DeskCrew widget on your store. When a customer asks "where is my order", the AI answers from your shipping article: expected windows, how to read the tracking page, what to do if the carrier shows no movement. It only uses what you published.
Route the real lookups to a person, with the email attached
When the customer wants their specific parcel checked, the widget opens a ticket with their email and the message. Your team looks up the order once and replies. The customer gets the answer in the chat, or by email if they left.
Watch the count fall, then trim the article
After two weeks, read the tickets that still came in. Each one is a sentence missing from the policy page. Add it. Most stores see the question drop to the handful of orders that really went wrong.

What changes, and what does not?
The AI answers the policy, not the parcel
Today DeskCrew answers shipping windows, tracking help and what to do when a parcel is late, from your own article. Per-order status lookup inside the chat is on the public roadmap. Until then those requests reach your team as a ticket with the email attached, which is still faster than an inbox.
Tracking links cut the question, they do not end it
Carriers lag. A parcel can sit at "label created" for days, and no page fixes that. The goal is to answer the large share that is curiosity and keep a human on the small share that is a real problem.
What week one looks like
Expect most of the drop in the first fortnight, once the shipping article is live and the widget is on the store. The rest comes from editing the article each time a ticket shows a gap.
What else do people ask?
Can an AI answer "where is my order" without my order data?
It can answer everything around the order: when it ships, how long the carrier takes, how to read the tracking page, what "label created" means and what to do if nothing moves for five days. Those are most of the messages. The remaining ones, where someone needs their own parcel checked, go to a person with the customer email already on the ticket. Per-order lookup inside the chat is on the DeskCrew roadmap.
Do I need a Shopify app to do this?
DeskCrew has a Shopify app that installs the widget through an app embed, so there is no theme code to edit. If you prefer, one script tag in theme.liquid does the same job in about two minutes. Either way the widget shows on every storefront page and each chat becomes a ticket in your dashboard, with the customer email attached.
What should the shipping policy article say?
Processing time in business days, transit time per region, which carriers you use, what each tracking status means, and the exact day you will investigate a late parcel. Write it as answers, one short paragraph per question. The AI quotes it word for word, so a vague line like "fast shipping" produces a vague answer and a ticket.
How much does this cost for a small store?
Nothing to start. The free plan includes the widget, ticketing, the public help center and ten AI answers a month, with no card. Stores that get more questions than that move to Pro at $29 a month, flat for the whole workspace rather than per seat, which includes 150 AI answers and email-to-ticket.
Will the widget slow my store or break checkout?
No. The widget is one deferred script that loads after the page renders, inside its own isolated container, so it cannot conflict with your theme. It never touches checkout and adds no load on Shopify itself. Removing it means deleting one line or uninstalling the app, and nothing else changes.
Does this work on WooCommerce or other stores?
Yes. WooCommerce uses the free DeskCrew WordPress plugin, and every other platform takes the same one-line script. The shipping article and the routing rules are identical, because the problem is the same on every store. The integrations directory has the exact paste path for each platform, and the free plan is the same everywhere.
