Author Bio settings (Pro+)
Settings > Author Bio configures the author profile that appears on your articles. This is a Pro+ feature: on Free and Pro the fields are visible but locked, and articles ship without an author bio or Person schema.
Why this exists: E-E-A-T
Google evaluates content partly on E-E-A-T: Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust. In plain terms, Google wants to know a real, qualified person stands behind the article. This matters most for YMYL topics (health, finance, legal), where anonymous content struggles to rank.
With Author Bio configured, SEOBetter:
- appends your bio box to every generated article
- includes you in Person schema markup, so search engines and AI engines can identify you as an entity
- uses your social profile links as sameAs signals, which is how Google connects your profiles into one Knowledge Graph identity
The fields
- Full name: your real name. Never "admin" or "staff"; Google penalizes anonymous content.
- Job title, credentials, experience: for example "Senior Veterinary Nutritionist", "DVM, MSc Animal Nutrition", "12 years in veterinary practice". Credentials show after your name.
- Bio: 100 to 200 words, written in third person. Explain why you're qualified to write about your topics.
- Headshot URL: a professional photo. Use the same photo across all your online profiles; Google matches faces and images when building your entity.
- Social profiles: LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and your website. Link to your real profiles only.
Tips
- Fill in what's true and stop there. An honest "8 years running a small bakery" beats an inflated title.
- Consistency matters more than volume. Same name, same photo, same bio everywhere you appear online.
- If several people write for your site, this profile applies site-wide, so use the main author or the site's founder.
Not on Pro+?
You can read the fields but not save them. If you upgrade later, anything you had saved on a previous Pro+ plan is still there; the plugin never wipes these fields when your tier changes.
