Content types explained: Blog Post, How-To and Listicle

SEOBetter Free includes three content types. Pick one from the Content Type dropdown on the Generate Content page. The type changes the article's structure, its tone, and the schema markup that gets added for search engines.

The three free types

Blog Post is the default. Use it for informational topics like "how much does a kelpie puppy cost". You get a Key Takeaways box at the top, question-style section headings, an FAQ section, and a References section built from real sources found during research.

How-To Guide is for task keywords like "how to descale a coffee machine". The steps are formatted as numbered step cards, and the article gets HowTo schema so Google can show it as a step-by-step rich result.

Listicle is for "top 10" or "best of" keywords like "best pizza in christchurch nz". Each item gets a big-number card, and a "The List at a Glance" index near the top links to every item. The article gets ItemList schema. For local keywords, the items come from real business data, not made-up names.

What every article includes

Regardless of type, each article has:

  • A content type badge at the top
  • A Key Takeaways box (three short bullets)
  • An FAQ section
  • A References section with real, checked links
  • JSON-LD schema added at the end of the post
  • A GEO score and suggestions after generation

Which type should you pick?

Match the type to what a searcher wants. If the keyword starts with "how to", pick How-To Guide. If it starts with "best" or "top", pick Listicle. For everything else, Blog Post is a safe choice.

The 14 Pro types

The dropdown also shows locked types. These need a Pro plan: Product Review, Comparison (X vs Y), Buying Guide / Roundup, News Article, Ultimate Guide, Case Study, Technical Article, Interview / Q&A, White Paper / Report, Opinion / Op-Ed, Press Release, Personal Essay, Glossary / Definition, and Scholarly Article. If you select one on the free plan, the sidebar shows a lock notice with an upgrade link.
