How do I remove an API key?

All keys live in SEOBetter → Settings. Where you remove one depends on the key type.

Remove an AI provider key

Go to Settings → AI Provider. Your connected providers show in a table. Click Remove next to the provider and confirm. The key is deleted from your site.

If you remove your only provider on the free plan, generation falls back to whatever free Cloud allowance you have left. With no allowance and no key, generation stops until you add a key again.

Remove a research or image key

Keys like Tavily and Pexels live under Settings → Research & Integrations. A saved key shows as a masked field reading "saved". Tick the remove checkbox next to the field and save the form. To replace a key instead, just type the new key over the masked field and save.

Remove a places key

Foursquare, HERE, Google Places, and the Sonar key live under Settings → Places Integrations. Same pattern: tick the remove checkbox and save. Articles still generate without them, local coverage just drops back to the free map sources.

What removal does and does not do

Removing a key from SEOBetter deletes it from your WordPress database. It does not cancel the key itself. If you want the key fully dead, also revoke it in the provider's own dashboard (for example openrouter.ai or pexels.com). That way it cannot be used anywhere, even if it leaked.

Keys are stored on your own site. The places and Sonar keys are sent to SEOBetter's server only to run your lookups and are not stored there.
