"Not available in your region": where that setting actually lives

Someone tells you they cannot join your whop. They send you a screenshot that says:

You check your product settings. Nothing. You check your plan settings. Nothing. There is no country list anywhere you look, and the product is free, so it cannot be a payments problem. It reads like the platform is blocking them, and there is nothing you can do.

That is wrong, and this article exists because we spent an evening getting it wrong ourselves.

Where the setting actually lives

It is in Control Center, which is not in product settings or plan settings. That is why you cannot find it.

1. Dashboard, then Products
2. Find the product people join through, and click the three dots at the end of its row
3. Choose Control center
4. Look for Block users based on IP address

There will be a list of countries there. Remove the one you want to allow with the X, then save.

Two things worth knowing about that list

It applies to free products. The screen says country blocks only affect free plans. So if you added those countries thinking it would reduce chargebacks or card fraud, it does not, because no money moves on a free join. What it does is stop people joining your community at all.

The message blames you, not the platform. The wording the visitor sees is "the seller doesn't offer this where you are". They will reasonably conclude that you excluded their country deliberately. In our case somebody had set it long ago, and the first we knew was a person in Morocco telling us, politely, that we had blocked him. He was right, and we had not known it was there.

If the list is empty and they still cannot join

Two other things cause the same message:

• The visitor is on a VPN whose exit is in a country that is blocked or sanctioned. Ask them to turn it off and try again. This is common and easy to miss, because the person is often not thinking about their VPN.
• The country is on the platform's own sanctions list, which you cannot override. That list is separate from your own block list and is not something a seller controls.

Why this matters more than it looks

You will never see this in your numbers. A blocked visitor does not appear as a failed signup or a bounce you can investigate. They see one line, assume they are not welcome, and leave. If you run outreach or ads into a country on that list, every reply you never got may have been someone who tried.

Check it once. It takes a minute, and you may find a list you never set.

How to check what a stranger actually sees

Open your whop in a private browser window, where you are not logged in. That is the only view that tells you the truth, and it is worth doing after any settings change, not just this one.
