Setting your widget's language

Your DeskCrew chat widget can speak your visitors' language. Either a fixed language you choose, or one that matches each visitor's browser automatically. This guide shows you how to set it up.

Choose a language

  1. Go to Dashboard → Install.
  2. Find the Widget language section.
  3. Pick one of:
    • English (default). The widget shows English to everyone.
    • Auto: the widget matches each visitor's browser language when a translation is available, and falls back to English otherwise. Best if your site gets visitors from many countries.
    • A specific language: the widget always shows that language to every visitor. Best if your site is in one language.

Supported languages today: German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified), and Polish, plus English.

  1. Save. The change applies to your live widget within a minute. You don't need to touch the code on your site.

Customize any wording

Want to change a specific label, button, or greeting? Under the same Widget language section, open Advanced: custom text. Each row lets you replace one piece of widget text with your own wording. Anything you leave blank uses the default translation.

Custom text is a great way to match your brand voice, or to add a language DeskCrew doesn't ship yet. Just fill in the wording you want for each field.

AI replies match the customer

When your widget's AI drafts an answer, it replies in the language the customer wrote in. Automatically, with no extra setup. Your knowledge base can stay in whatever language you wrote it; the AI adapts the reply to the customer.

Frequently asked

Do I need to change the code on my site? No. The language is a setting on your dashboard. Your existing widget install picks it up automatically.

What happens to visitors whose language I haven't enabled? With Auto, they see English. With a fixed language, everyone sees that language.

Does this change anything for my existing setup? No. Every widget defaults to English, so nothing changes until you choose a language.
