Set up DeskCrew in your whop: the complete guide

DeskCrew answers your members' questions inside your whop, day and night, from your own material. This guide takes about five minutes and gets it working for your members.

What DeskCrew does

  1. It reads your whop. As soon as you open the app, it reads your courses, your products and plans, your forum posts, the description on your Whop company page, and your website if you have linked one on Whop.
  2. It answers from that. When a member asks a question in the AI Support tab or in your chat, DeskCrew answers from what it read and says where the answer came from.
  3. Anything it cannot answer comes to you. Questions your material does not cover go to your Inbox in the app. Type your answer once and it goes to the member. DeskCrew also learns it, so the next member who asks gets it instantly.
  4. Optional: experts answer for you. Add USDC credit and those uncovered questions go to a human expert instead of you (see step 4).

Step 1: Open the app as the owner

Open your whop on a desktop browser and click the AI Support tab in the left sidebar. As the owner you see the setup guide, with your settings already open. It shows what DeskCrew has read so far. If it found nothing, add your website to your Whop company page (Settings, then your profile links), then press Read my whop again.

Step 2: Make the tab visible to your members

New apps on Whop start private: only you can see them. This is the step most owners miss.

  1. Make sure you are in your own whop. The name at the top of the left sidebar must be your whop, not DeskCrew or anyone else's. If you are in someone else's whop, the menu below will not have the option you need.
  2. On a desktop browser, right click AI Support in your sidebar.
  3. Choose Change visibility, then Product gated, and pick the product your members have. If you do not pick a product, the change does not save.
  4. Check it: open your whop in a private browser window, or ask a member whether they can see the tab. When you are logged in as the owner you always see it, even while it is private.

Right click does not exist on the Whop phone app, so this step needs a computer.

Step 3: Let it answer in your chat

In Settings, under Where it answers, choose which chat channels DeskCrew should reply in: when it is mentioned, or on any question. It waits a few minutes before replying so you or your team can answer first, and it never replies over a human who already answered.

Step 4 (optional): Fund expert answers with USDC

$1 USDC = one expert answer. When a member asks something your material does not cover, DeskCrew sends that one question to a human expert and attaches your per-question amount (default $1) from your credit. The expert's answer goes back to your member, and DeskCrew learns it for next time.

  • You are charged only when a question is sent to an expert, never for answers from your own material.
  • A weekly cap (default $10) limits what you can spend.
  • Without credit, nothing breaks: those questions simply wait in your Inbox for you.

How to add credit:

  1. In the setup guide, pick the chain you hold USDC on. We accept USDC on Base, Polygon, Sei, Avalanche, Solana and Algorand.
  2. Send USDC to the address shown for that chain. Send USDC only, on the chain you picked. USDC sent on a different chain than the one selected cannot be credited.
  3. Paste the transaction hash (or transaction id) and press Credit. Your balance updates once the transfer is confirmed.

Step 5: Try it

Ask a question in the AI Support tab the way a member would. The setup guide suggests questions your material can answer. Check your Inbox for anything it could not answer, and answer it once.

Common problems

  • "I only see Mark as read, Invite people, Copy link and Notification preferences when I right click." You are in someone else's whop, where you are a member. Switch to your own whop using the icons on the far left, then right click AI Support there.
  • "My members cannot see the tab." It is still private. Do step 2, and pick a product.
  • "It says it sent my question to the team." Your material did not cover it and there is no expert credit, so the question is waiting in your Inbox. Answer it there, or add credit for expert answers.

Still stuck? Message DeskCrew on Whop and a person will help.
